Lincoln Simulation Center

Open since 2012, with sessions two to three times a week for procedures, physical examination, ventilator management, and mock codes.

Since the Simulation Laboratory opened in 2012 it has run countless simulation events. Each year Lincoln holds a Sim Fair in which medical and non-medical hospital staff take part in simulation exercises that stimulate learning and offer new experiences.

For the residency program, simulation sessions run two to three times a week in one-hour blocks. They sharpen physical examination skills on state-of-the-art mannequins and build procedural efficiency — central line placement, intubation, lumbar puncture, ophthalmoscopic and otoscopic examination, and more. The laboratory also runs ventilator management teaching sessions and mock code simulations, both in the lab and on the floors, to improve the response to hospital emergencies.

The Simulation Center is directed by Dr. Nehad Shabarek, who completed fellowship training in Simulation Medicine at the Health + Hospitals / IMSAL Center.
