Research and Scholarly Activity
A thriving research program with its own IRB, dedicated research assistants, a two-week research rotation, and a steady presence at national meetings.
The Department of Medicine has a thriving research program under the direction of Dr. Vidya Menon. The hospital has its own Institutional Review Board and research assistants dedicated to the Department of Medicine. Research enhances the learning of faculty and residents alike, and during the pandemic the department’s scholarly activity grew substantially as the institution took part in national drug trials and studies.
Every year Lincoln Medical Center holds an Annual Research Competition in which departments across the hospital showcase projects, most of them related to patient care. Residents engaged in research can take a two-week Research Rotation — dedicated elective time to focus on their projects and publish their work, all of it supervised by attendings. The department and the residency program support residents and faculty in presenting their work to societies and at conferences.
