Hematology/Oncology

Solid and liquid malignancies, a large sickle cell and thalassemia population, a fully staffed outpatient chemotherapy unit, and a weekly multidisciplinary tumor board.

The Hematology/Oncology service offers experience across a wide variety of solid and hematologic malignancies. Lincoln serves a population with a high prevalence of sickle cell disease and thalassemia. The division runs a fully staffed outpatient chemotherapy unit; bone marrow collection, testing, and genetic analysis are provided through a partner laboratory. The cancer center works closely with breast and GI surgery, urology, and palliative care, with a dedicated social worker and pharmacist. Inpatient apheresis is performed regularly.

Residents are encouraged to attend the Wednesday morning Tumor Board, which brings together pathologists, radiation oncologists, oncologists, and pharmacists to plan comprehensive care. A Hematology and Oncology fellowship affiliated with New York Medical College rotates through Lincoln.
