Nephrology division is well recognized for its academic excellence. It is a popular elective for medical residents and medical students. The division is staffed by three full time board certified nephrologists and one full time physician assistant.
Clinical services include inpatient and outpatient consultation services, renal clinic (4 sessions a week), acute and chronic hemodialysis services. Consultation service covers a spectrum of renal diseases prevalent in this diverse community. Nephrology division emphasizes early recognition of chronic kidney diseases (CKD) and offers comprehensive CKD management in the clinic setting by implementing its unique “SHAPE UP” program. Chronic Hemodialysis Unit operates with the principle of “striving for excellence”. The unit has earned its reputation for excellent clinical performance measures and has been always in demand by our patient population in this community.
The division’s dedicated faculty members take great pride in teaching. Besides teaching consultation rounds, the division offers ongoing small group educational sessions, formal lectures including grand rounds and board review sessions. The residents are expected to participate in online educational activities at the beginning and end of the rotation.
Nephrology division has earned its name for scholarly activities by active participation in clinical research, presentations at national meetings and publications in peer review journals. Residents are actively involved in renal research activities.
