Endocrinology:

The Division of Endocrinology is an active department in the Division of Medicine.  The department is staffed by two full-time board-certified attendings who are dedicated to improving diabetes control and general endocrinology care at Lincoln.

Clinical Activity
The Division of Endocrinology has many clinical responsibilities.  The Division provides inpatient consultative services and maintains a busy outpatient practice.  There is a dedicated thyroid fine-needle aspiration clinic for the management of thyroid nodules.  The Division manages a wide range of endocrine diseases such as thyroid dysfunction, osteoporosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, adrenal masses and calcium disorders.

The Division of Endocrinology is also a leader in diabetes management .  Both attendings have achieved recognition by the American Diabetes Association.  The latest technologies such as insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring are utilized.  The Division believes in a multi-disciplinary approach to diabetes management and works alongside diabetes educators and nutritionists.  The Division supports diabetes education classes which are available to all patients to reinforce self-management skills and to assist with other aspects of daily living with diabetes.

Academic Activity
Education is a major priority of the Division of Endocrinology.  Residents at all levels of training rotate through the Division on elective.  They are taught many different aspects of endocrinology through bedside teaching, clinic precepting, didactic lectures and journal clubs.  Additional scholarly activities include clinical research, case reports, and poster presentations.
